Wake Forest Radio Broadcaster Fired For Helping the Enemy

Winston-Salem Rocked By Scandal

NCAA Football: Clemson at Wake Forest Jeremy Brevard-USA TODAY Sports

The world of A.C.C. football got a little surreal Tuesday. News started emerging from Winston-Salem that one of its own, Tommy Elrod, has been providing game prep material to Wake Forest opponents since 2014. Elrod is a Wake Forest alum. He played for the Deacons from 1993-1997. He was an assistant coach, and now, resident Benedict Arnold. Why the radio broadcaster would betray his alma mater is unclear, but we will keep you posted as further details emerge.

Collegefootballtalk.com was one of several outlets reporting the story. Elrod was employed by the IMG radio network, and has since been terminated. The story on the surface is just plain bizarre. Why would a radio announcer feel compelled to share confidential information with future opponents? Was the information for sale? If you have any doubt that the A.C.C. is moving further and further towards the S.E.C., this story should remove all concerns.
