The Hokies still have a game to play in 2016, the Belk Bowl in Charlotte. The N.F.L. draft is months away, but it’s never too early to try and read the tea leaves. Isaiah Ford is rewriting the record book at Virginia Tech, but might declare for the draft after another monster season. Bucky Hodges adjusted to his new role as WR, but I expect him to move back to TE in the N.F.L.. Hodges has caught 7 TDs on the season, and is a match up nightmare. If Ford decides to make the leap, it will be interesting to see where he is selected come draft time. If Hodges decides to forego his senior year, I feel he will be certain early round pick. Hodges sheer size and speed will make the scouts swoon.
I caught up with N.F.L. draft expert Chris Landry, and picked his brain about the two Hokies. You can check out Chris’ awesome site by clicking here. Keep in mind that neither player has yet declared. The combine, and pro days are months away. Chris projects both players “will end up with approximately 2nd-3rd round grades.” I think that will change, especially for Hodges, after watching these guys work out. We will keep you posted on any news concerning the status of these athletes.
