Virginia Tech Hokies Drop Another Game. Lose to VMI 5-3

Tech drops another one, the slide just won't stop. VMI puts up 5, Hokies barely manage 3. Pitching was pretty good, the sticks stayed in Blacksburg. We borrowed the bats with the holes in them.

The Hokies' took a trip up I81 to Lexington to meet the VMI Keydets for an old traditional Corps of Cadets rivalry match-up. The game was webcast on ESPN3.  For the first 5 and a half it looked like the Hokies might just have figured something out to put in the win column.  Then disaster happened and Ryan Lauria started leaving pitches up in the zone.  He started his stint on the mound in the bottom of the 5th, and left with a 2 run shocker leaving VMI in with a 3-3 tie, and all of the momentum.

Tech's offense completely stalled after the 5th, the Keydets tacked on the go ahead run in the bottom of the 6th, and an insurance run in the bottom of the 8th.  There just isn't much to comment on.  The offense just never showed up, and the defense committed one critical error that allowed VMI's first run to score, but ultimately it wasn't the difference in the game.

The offense just didn't have it today.

Louisville is up next, in Kentucky.  Hopefully the Hokies can reach down and find something to get a win.

GO HOKIES!!!!
