Virginia Tech Honors Beamer

Virginia Tech has renamed the locker room in honor of former head coach, Frank Beamer.

The Virginia Tech Board of Visitors approved the renaming of the Hokie football team's locker room from Team United Locker Room to The Frank Beamer Locker Room.  This is the second naming honor the university has bestowed on the legendary coach within the last year.  In 2015 the former Spring Road was renamed Beamer Way.

Frank Beamer stated his appreciation in a release.

"The heart and soul of Virginia Tech football resides within the young men who will use this locker room.  The locker room is a place where lifelong friendships form and teams grow stronger together.  While this space will always belong to our student athletes and Hokie Nation, if my name helps remind our student athletes to give that extra effort on the field, study a little longer, or do a good turn for a fellow Hokie, then I'm all for it."

Frank Beamer now serves as a special assistant to the athletic director.  There will be a formal dedication for the renaming once the new placard has been created.  Gobbler Country joins the rest of the Hokie faithful in their appreciation of all Coach Beamer and his family have done for VPI.  Go Hokies!
