Several Hokies Invited to NFL Rookie Minicamps

Luther Maddy, Wade Hansen, A.J. Hughs, Deon Clarke, and Donovan Riley have all been invited to participate at rookie NFL minicamps.

Luther Maddy: The 6’2", 283 lbs. defensive tackle has been invited to participate in the rookie mini training camp of the New Orleans Saints.  During the course of 2011-2015 Maddy played in 56 games and started in 46.  He had 74 solo tackles, 101 tackle assists, and 14 QB sacks.

A.J. Hughes: The Hokies punter for the last four years has also received an invitation to participate in the New Orleans rookie minicamp.  Hughes played with VT from 2012-2015 where he racked up 310 total punts, averaging 41.8 yards per kick.

Deon Clarke: The Seattle Seahawks have invited Deon Clarke to participate in their rookie minicamp.  The Chesterfield, VA native spent four years playing linebacker at VT.  From 2012-2015 he had 75 solo tackles and 86 assists.  He had 22.5 tackles for loss and eight sacks.  Additionally, he defended four passes and recovered two fumbles.

Donovan Riley: The safety from Baltimore has been invited to the Baltimore Ravens rookie minicamp.  Riley played in 51 games and started nine of those games.  Riley collected 57 solo tackles and 28 assisted.  He also grabbed three interceptions, defended seven passes, and forced and recovered two fumbles.

Wade Hansen: The Pittsburgh Steelers have invited offensive lineman, Wade Hansen, to participate in their rookie minicamp.  Hansen transferred from DIII school Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and played for VT from 2014-2015.  During that time, he played in 26 games and started in 16. During the 2015-2016 season he started and played at the right tackle position.
