Justin Fuente Salary Third Best Among New Coaches For 2016

Georgia coach Kirby Smart is highest paid at $3.75 million

Derik Hamilton-USA TODAY Sports

Justin Fuente is in some high company when it comes to salary. Fuente is the third highest paid new head coach in 2016. Former Alabama assistant Kirby Smart hit the biggest payday at Georgia. His salary at $3.75 million is only slightly less than former coach Mark Richt. Richt is now at Miami, and his salary is undisclosed. Miami is a private university, and doesn't have to release its financials publicly. Second on the list of 28 new hires comes as somewhat of a surprise. Bronco Mendenhall at the University of Virginia is slated to make $3.25 million this season, slightly higher than Fuente's $3.2 million.  At least Virginia can win that particular battle.

Dino Babers from Syracuse is another new head coach in the A.C.C., and like Miami, Syracuse doesn't release its information.  It is also interesting to note that Frank Beamer, at $2.7 million last season, earned less than his ousted counterpart at U.V.A. in 2015.
