With the offseason grinding along, the Hokies got a bit of bad news today. According to Evan G. Watkins, of virginiatech247sports.com, ,linebacker Carson Lydon is transferring. No other details have emerged as of yet, but it does have an impact on the depth chart. Andrew Motuapuaka is the probable starter, with Lydon expected to back him up and offer some relief. The depth at MLB was a factor for Virginia Tech last season, as Motuapuaka was hampered by lingering injuries all year.

The rest of the linebackers expected to fill the void include:#56 Sean Huelskamp a 6'1" Jr., and Trent Young a 5'10" So., who played in 7 games last season. Lydon appeared in 11 games for the Hokies last season as a true freshman. At 6'2" 237, Lydon injected some size into the middle of the Hokies defense. Gobbler Country would like to wish Carson good luck in his future endeavors.
