Well, that was a quick turnaround. Virginia Tech offered Hafiz just a few days ago. He then announced he'd need more time to make his decision. On Friday afternoon, Hafiz let everyone know he would be attending Iowa State. Hafiz is rated as a three star recruit by Rivals, Scout, and 247, and unranked by ESPN. His decision today was between Duke, Minnesota, Iowa State, and the Hokies, but he's also got plenty of other offers- Appalachian State, Boston College, Central Michigan, ECU, Indiana, Memphis, NC State, Oregon State, Syracuse, USF, and others.

Tape time!

Quran Hafiz (Jacksonville, FL. 170lbs, 6'-0". Cornerback.)

Hafiz's speciality is the open-field play. He's got very good closing speed and decent enough in coverage- though I'd like to see him a tad more up in press coverage. He makes plays on the ball, sure, but he's not showing an outsized collection of ball skills. He's another guy that reminds me of Ike Taylor, where his game is based on athleticism and power, not necessarily on pure coverage talent and ability to intercept the ball. His hips open and close alright, but it's neither perfectly fluid nor perfectly snappy. He shows promise, but of course that needs refinement.
