As reported eight days ago, LB Carson Lydon is leaving the Virginia Tech football program. Four hours ago, Lydon released a goodbye letter of sorts to the Hokie Nation.

No word as of yet where Lydon will land, but as we described when the news broke, Lydon's departure seriously affects the LB depth chart. He was listed unofficially as Andrew Motuapuaka's backup, and offered some good size in the middle. Lydon played in 11 games and registered 4 tackles last season for the Hokies.

Losing Lydon, the Hokies will look to Sean Huelskamp and Trent Young to step up and contribute right away. Lydon, from Tarpon Springs, Florida, will have to sit out a year if he transfers to another Division I school. We wish Carson all the best, and look forward to seeing him make great plays wherever he ends up!
