Bucky Hodges On Mackey Award List

TE Poised for huge year in new offense.

Peter Casey-USA TODAY Sports

The Hokies keep getting the national attention in form of preseason watch lists.  On Wednesday, the 6'7" Hodges was placed on the John Mackey Award watch list.  The award is given annually to the nation's top tight end.  You can take a look at the full watch list by clicking here. Hodges had a big year in 2015.  He caught 6 TD's and ran for another.  There was plenty of speculation around Blacksburg that Hodges may declare for the N.F.L. draft.  Fortunately for Hokies everywhere, Hodges has decided to stay put for now.

Last year's winner of the Mackey Award was Hunter Henry, from Arkansas. Hodges was a finalist last year, and figures to have a huge role in the Justin Fuente offense. Hodges combines sheer size with raw athletic ability that will certainly make him a top N.F.L. pick.
