Battle at Bristol Round Up

Gobbler Country catches you up on the latest concerning the quickly approaching Battle at Bristol.

Randy Sartin-USA TODAY Sports

The Virginia Tech Hokies and Tennessee Volunteers will meet at Bristol Motor Speedway in just under a month.  The two storied programs will be competing in front of, what is expected to be, the largest crowd to ever witness a college football game.  An event of such epic proportions deserves a commensurate award for victory.

The prize is monstrous, weighing over 200 pounds, over two feet tall, and two feet wide.  The design, by John Nilsen, beat out hundreds of other entries submitted to the Battle at Bristol trophy design contest.  The trophy itself is breathtaking and should look quite nice in Blacksburg.

A Tennessee Volunteers fan, TheRoamingVOL, has created what I think is, thus far, the best pump-up video for the Battle at Bristol.  Both fan bases should enjoy the production immensely.

Earlier this year the folks at Flying Pilot J and Bristol Motor Speedway provided a teaser trailer for the game.

Andy Bitter, of the Roanoke Times, is reporting that legendary former VPI head coach, Frank Beamer, will be in attendance at the game against Tennessee.

He has also reported that the Hokies have chosen their uniforms for the game, but Athletic Director, Whit Babcock, isn't revealing much about the ensemble.

The Battle at Bristol will be held in Bristol, Tennessee at the Bristol Motor Speedway on September 10, 2016.  Kick off is at 8pm EST, and the game will be televised on ABC.
