Women’s Soccer: The Hokies absolutely dominated the East Carolina Pirates during the Friday night VT home opener. ECU quickly got out to a lead scoring their only goal 5:30 into the game. After that the Hokies took over and scored five unanswered goals to win, 5-1. The women of Virginia Tech were not finished though. On Sunday they traveled to Harrisonburg, VA to face the James Madison Dukes. The Hokies won the game, 2-0, on a pair of Alani Johnson goals. With the win the Hokies extend their winning streak to four games, and sit undefeated at 4-0. This Thursday the Hokies will host the Ohio State Buckeyes, which will be televised on ACC Network Extra.

Men’s Soccer: The men have also started the season off with wins. The Hokies upset the No. 10 Ohio State Buckeyes, 1-0, in 2OT, during the opening round of the Ohio State Tournament held in Columbus. VPI then defeated the Oakland University Grizzlies, 3-0. With the pair of wins the Hokies take home the trophy for the Bert and Iris Wolstein Classic. This is the first time since 2012 that the Hokies have started the season 2-0. The Hokies next game will be their home opener when they host the South Florida Bulls this Friday at Thompson Field.

Volleyball: The Hokies co-hosted the Virginia Tech / Radfor Invitational at Cassell Coliseum this past weekend. Virginia Tech first faced Appalachian State on Friday, and defeated the Mountaineers, in a five-set match, 3-2. On Saturday they continued their winning ways defeating both Siena and UMBC, 3-0. This week VPI will travel to Puerto Rico to participate in the Puerto Rico Clasico. On Thursday they will face the Alabama Crimson Tide, Friday the Temple Owls, and then wrap up the tournament against Texas A&M.

The Virginia Tech Hokies had a victory laden weekend to kick off the fall sports athletics. Congratulations to all the athletes! Well done ladies and gentlemen!
