The immediate post season is always player loss time in college football. We always those who have exhausted their eligibility so they depart for new opportunities. Some of the very lucky players get to move on to the NFL or even the Canadian game in the CFL. We also lose players to early decisions to transfer or end their football playing days as a Hokie.

Shai McKenzie has decided to finish his degree and graduate this Summer then he plans to transfer to some other program. This event is no surprise. His playing time has been very limited and it’s been rumored that he’s been wanting to do this for months.

Seth Dooley has never really gotten past 2nd on the depth chart. He’s had some nice games and a few opportunities, but he’s already graduated. Seth is going to hang up the cleats to complete his football career as a Hokie.

We wish both Shai and Seth good travels and much success in their chosen futures. Both have been successful in their academic pursuits at Virginia Tech, and will carry a Hokie sheepskin with them into the future. Isn’t that really the reason for student athletes to compete?

Congratulations to them for attaining (or nearing) their goals at the end of their program participation. We wish them well, they are Hokies’s for Life.

GO HOKIES!!!
