There has been a lot of movement this week for Virginia Tech football. Yesterday’s announcement that Isaiah Ford and Jerod Evans were leaving the program hit hard. It was right on top of WR/TE Bucky Hodges announcement that he was leaving to enter the draft. Thankfully, all the news hasn’t been bad, as Virginia Tech received a commitment from Nathan Proctor during the Under Armour All-American Game. Proctor is a solid 4*, and should help the defense immediately.

SB Nation recruiting expert, Bud Elliot, had a chance to speak with Proctor prior to his announcement. It was pretty telling of why Proctor ultimately chose Virginia Tech, and what the process was like.
Bud Elliot: Virginia Tech, what is it that you like?
Nathan Proctor: I just love the whole Lunch Pail defense thing. Coach Wiles, Foster, and Fuente really showed me what they want me to do.
BE: How do they plan on using you?
NP: Basically a hybrid. I’ll have my hand in the dirt, drop in coverage. Basically like a Dadi Nicolas.
Hokie fans everywhere should be pretty pumped if Proctor can achieve the type of production that Dadi Nicolas had. Bud Foster loves guys with Proctor’s build, and it will be interesting to see how he is implemented in the coming years.
