The Virginia Tech Hokies defeated the Duke Blue Devils 24-3 on Saturday night in Blacksburg. It was another dominant performance for Bud Foster’s defense as the Hokies held the Blue Devils to just 82 yards passing and 101 rushing yards.

Virginia Tech freshman QB Josh Jackson was efficient considering the circumstances. Jackson completed 13 of 27 passes for 200 yards and a score. Jackson also rushed for a touchdown. Most importantly, the freshman passer took care of the football in miserable conditions.

The Hokies rushed for 187 yards and were led by Deshawn McClease who racked up 75 yards and a score.

With the win, the Hokies improve to 7-1 on the season, with a 3-1 mark in ACC play. Up next is No. 8 Miami followed by Georgia Tech. The Hokies have fared well against the Hurricanes over the years but this one will probably decide the Coastal Division. If the Hokies survive next week, they get to face the Yellow Jackets the following week in Atlanta.
