It’s not a ton of great pictures this time. The camera wasn’t cooperating and neither was the weather. I did get some good shots until Mother Nature decided that focus and dryness were not going to happen.
Just before the camera was shut off because it was terrible out.

I have some pictures that came out of the camera with enough quality and composition to post. A distressing number were the backs of sideline guys, officials, and other people who normally stay out of the way. It was just a really tough game to shoot. I lost all of my pregame pictures which is distressing enough, some were really good. I’ll never get to show them to you, sadly.
So we started off in very humid but decent enough conditions.
Jumping was dry. Very humid and it had rained a bit, but the start of the game wasn’t wet yet.

Okay folks, these are the final few. They are not out of focus. That is the rain. This next one is while it was the lightest that it would be for the 3rd and most of the 4th quarters.
Short of the first down Duke must punt

This was in focus. It was the rain on upfield shots.

You’ve seen this one before but it’s the story of the game

Right after this kick, I had to shut down the camera and go put it in a waterproof bag and hide it under my poncho. It was raining so hard that I just couldn’t get any really quality shots. I wanted to take some of the environment, but the only one that I managed to get was a bit earlier in the quarter.
The rain still wasn’t as heavy as it got. But this was an upfield shot that caught the density.

So, that’s not the entire Duke game set, but it’s where I could get the clearest images, and where the action was interesting enough to shoot. Face it a mud and water game is more splashing around, flat foot running upright to keep from slipping, and grinding it out on the ground.
But the Hokies have always been a Mudder Team and we scored enough and kept Duke from putting anything significant on the board. It’s Miami on Saturday night. I haven’t seen the weather report for the game. It’ll be interesting.
