The Virginia Tech Hokies basketball team tipped off the 2017/18 season off in grand fashion at Cassell Coliseum tonight. The Hokies hosted Detroit Mercy in a non con affair, and Virginia Tech started the season off with a bang. The game was tight early, but the talent at Virginia Tech eventually took over. The team looked loose, hungry and ready for a repeat appearance in the N.C.A.A. tourney. You can check out the A.C.C. Network highlight package here:
There are high expectations for Buzz Williams and crew this season. The Hokies got to the dance last season, but were bounced in the first round. There were times in the game that the Hokies gave Coach Buzz ample coaching talking points, but that is to be expected in any early season contest. Next on the slate, the Virginia Tech Hokies will be facing the Citadel back at the Cassell for a 6 PM tip.
