Tennessee Volunteers Football : School faces backlash on leaked coaching hire.

It seems like the Greg Schiano announcement is imminent, or is it? Good luck with that, Big Orange! They could learn from Virginia Tech on transition.

NCAA Football: Illinois at Ohio State Greg Bartram-USA TODAY Sports

There have been conspiracy theorists linking current Virginia Tech Hokies coach, Justin Fuente, to some open jobs around the country. This is normal this time of year. You take a hot young coach, add some high profile openings, and you have a story on your hands. I never subscribed to the Fuente to Florida, Tennessee, etc., rumors, but I watched them. I even wrote an article explaining why Coach Fuente was staying put in the New River Valley. That article was about the Florida Gators job, but insert any prominent openings. It does get dicey when you add the element of desperation. Tennessee is desperate.

“Right now, Tennessee is the girl you avoided eye contact when you went into the bar, and is now offering to buy you a drink.”

The rumor of the Schiano to the Vols set off a rebellion in Knoxville. It seems fans weren’t happy with the prospect, and let their voice be heard.

Just remember this, Hokies. Virginia Tech was faced with a coaching change two years ago and the administration handled in perfectly. Aren’t you glad you aren’t a Tennessee Volunteer fan?
