The No. 10 Miami Hurricanes defeated the No. 13 Virginia Tech Hokies 28-10 on Saturday night to remain undefeated. With the win, Miami retains complete control of the ACC Coastal Division, while the Hokies fall to 7-2 on the season, with a 3-2 mark in conference play.
Defensively, the Hokies did allow a pair of big plays, but for the most part, Bud Foster’s unit kept a struggling offense in the game with four turnovers. Of those turnovers, Tech converted them into just seven points. Quarterback Josh Jackson was hit hard throughout the night, yet finished the game. It was a valiant effort by the freshman quarterback in what was undoubtedly his toughest night as a starting quarterback.
The Hokies must shake this one off as a trip to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech and its vaunted triple option await next week. While winning the Coastal may not happen, the Hokies still have an opportunity for a 10-win season.
Congratulations to Miami, we can all hope that turnover chain is retired soon.
