We aren’t going to link the announcements or push the “sorry” button. Most of us who played the sport, paid some price on the field (practice or game) and don’t feel sorry for Marshawn Williams. That would be the wrong emotion. We are Proud to have had him with us! Though Marshawn will be missed in a shallow Running Back depth chart, his scholarship will continue, and the Redshirt Junior will be able to do the most important thing that brought him to Blacksburg. Receive a degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

He will also have to settle for being a valued and cherished member of Hokie Nation. He’ll jump to Sandman, rattle keys on third down, chant H-O-K-I-E-S Hokies!!! for Victory Tag. You see, we of Hokie Nation aren’t saying goodbye to Marshawn Williams. We are saying “thank you for your great effort”. Yes, we are sad to see Marshawn Williams leave the field but happy to have him with us as a Hokie for Life.
Your playing was special, Juice! Your being all Hokie is more important. Live life, earn your degree, and be proud to be a Hokie!
