J'Bril Glaze Jefferson HS Tampa, FL Defensive End/Tackle
J’Bril is a recent commitment; Jan 6th of this year. He had previously committed to the USF Bulls. Coaches Scott and Wiles stayed with him, and the coaching change at USF seems to have changed his mind in regard to his status. Glaze’s list of Power Five offers is impressive for a supposed three star Defensive End, and includes Arizona, Tennessee, Michigan State, Maryland, Louisville, and Kentucky. His scout film shows a High School hybrid outside lineman. At roughly 6’4” and 255 (Scout lists him at 6’3” and 240) or so, Glaze presents the Hokies with a Defensive End prospect that pushes the size of the DE position more toward the traditional range. His films show good range, with an ability to get his arms into the tackles. He is good in pursuit, and his outside rush speed is solid. Of course at the collegiate level he will be expected to “freelance” a bit less, but his outside skills will be a definite help in containment; especially running QB’s and the option. There is a definite physical reality, though that Glaze might make a really good inside/Mike Linebacker with his closing speed and open field tackling. Foot speed would be the key there.
