In order to keep up with other big-time schools on the recruiting trail, the Virginia Tech Hokies were going to need to add to head coach Justin Fuente’s staff in non-coaching positions. On Thursday, Tech did just that, as Adam Lechtenberg joined Fuente’s staff as the director of player development.
Lechtenberg, a former player at the University of Nebraska, has worked with Fuente at TCU and Memphis. During his time with Fuente at Memphis, Lechtenberg filled the role of director of personnel, in which he helped manage the recruiting process for the head coach. Expect him to fill a similar role for the Hokies.
Fuente is excited about Lechtenberg coming to Blacksburg, according to the team’s official website.
Adam brings a diverse skill set to Blacksburg that will benefit our program and our student-athletes. I’ve worked with Adam dating back to our days on Gary Patterson’s staff at TCU. He knows the expectations that I have for our program and our student-athletes. Adam has a deep appreciation for the attention to detail it takes for a program to be successful at this level. We’re excited that he’s joining our team at Virginia Tech.
It’s best to surround yourself with people who have worked with you before and understand what you are looking for. In Lechtenberg, Fuente did just that.
