The JUCO transfer never showcased his skills before leaving the team, but it opens up another scholarship for 2017 and 2018.

Mark Berman of the Roanoke Times is reporting Seth LeDay is leaving the Virginia Tech men’s basketball program, after LeDay redshirted the 2016-17 season.

The JUCO transfer was likely to earn minutes this year, especially with the Hokies’ thin front court combined with the departure of his older brother, Zach LeDay. The younger LeDay joined the Hokies last May, transferring from Northwest Mississippi Community College.

Obviously, there is a reason behind this move. It frees up another scholarship for the next two seasons should the Hokies want to add a blue-chip talent like MJ Walker and a transfer like Juwan Durham. Right now, the Hokies have shown heavy interest in both and are considered contenders for landing both prospects.
