The Virginia Tech Hokies added to their future non-conference schedule, announcing a home-and-home agreement with the Brigham Young Cougars. The two programs have never met before, but the Hokie faithful will have to be patient. The initial competition will be held in Blacksburg on September 26, 2026 with the next game being held four years later in Provo, Utah on September 14, 2030.
The meeting between the Hokies and the Cougars is amusing considering that their former head coach, Bronco Mendenhall, left his position as HC at BYU for the same job at the University of Virginia.
The Cougars will be no pushover. BYU has a storied football program with the team’s first season dating all the way back to 1922. They have made regular appearances in the Top 25 and were National Champions in 1984. They are currently on a 12-bowl game streak. This past year they won the Poinsettia Bowl and finished 9-4 in Kalani Sitake’s inaugural season as head coach.
Go Hokies!
