Michael Vick is back in the NFL, but this time he is not on the field. The former Eagle QB reunites with head coach Andy Reid, who he played for during his time with the Philadelphia Eagles, as a coaching intern with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Virginia Tech superstar will support KC’s preseason efforts, including all four preseason games. Vick has done some coaching at the high school level, but this is his first opportunity to coach at the professional level.
There's a familiar face helping #Chiefs QBs at camp this year.

The 37-year old NFL veteran will likely spend most of his time working with the quarterback unit, and helping to develop rookie passer Patrick Mahomes (overall No. 10 draft pick from Texas Tech). In a statement to the Kansas City Star, Andy Reid said, "It’s been great for the players to bounce things off of him because he’s been in this offense before, so he understands it... Guys are attracted to him, they like his presence and the way he carries himself. They are not afraid to talk to him and likewise, he is not afraid to talk to them."
Since his conviction for dog fighting and animal abuse controversy has followed Michael Vick. His time in Kansas City is no different. There have been several protestations, including an opinion piece authored by the entire Kansas City Star editorial board, titled "Why Michael Vick doesn’t belong on the Chiefs coaching staff."
In closing, I leave you with the "Michael Vick Experience" commercial from days past. Still one of the best advertisements ever made.
