The Minnesota Vikings are really liking Bucky Hodges. In the second preseason game, Hodges caught two balls for 54 yards. That shakes out to an impressive 27 yards per catch. He also reeled in a jump ball (shock face) for a touchdown against the Seahawks.
It’s awesome seeing Hodges making an immediate impact for the Vikes. He was held without a catch in week one, so it was big time he took full advantage of his opportunities. He is currently listed as the fourth tight end on the Viking depth chart, according to ourlads.com , but this week’s performance should help that. Kyle Rudolph is entrenched as the TE1, and it should be beneficial for Hodges to work with an experienced, skilled veteran. I also like his head coach, Mike Zimmer. I had a chance to spend an afternoon with him in the press box at the Senior Bowl. He picked my brain about fishing the gulf while inhaling original Red Man. That doesn’t happen everyday.
