Another Fan Appreciation Day is in the books for the Virginia Tech Hokies. The athletic department estimates that 12,000 people flocked to the indoor facility for a chance to meet some of the Hokies’ coaches and players. Preceding the fan meet and greet, selected players and coaches were made available to the media. Interesting quotes included this:
“He should be ready for the opener. He’s been wearing a cast, and that thing should come off this week. He’s been doing individual drills, he’s been doing team drills, he’s been doing skel. The only thing we’ve been holding back is from doing anything with contact.”

Tim Settle is currently projected to start at DT, along with Ricky Walker, and big Tim made no bones about the positive leadership from Walker:
“Ricky is like my big brother man. You always see us around, and you always see us together. We sit next to each other in the meeting room. Everything me and Rick do, it’s the same.”

Coach Fuente was also happy with the day as a whole. He tweeted out this late Sunday afternoon:

Gobbler Country was at the big event, and co-editor, John Schneider, netted some sweet swag from the players.
