The Black Diamond Trophy game is being revived this year as Virginia Tech will face West Virginia for the first time since 2005. The game, being played at FedEx Field, will have a definite old school feel as two former rivals were named honorary captains.

Coach Justin Fuente has done an outstanding job of building the future while paying respect to the past. Since his retirement two years ago, Beamer has been very visible in the program. I ran into Coach Beamer on the track at Bristol last year, and he was in awe of the sheer size and scope of the event. He has been involved with doing promotional videos to boost season ticket sales. He is also playing a key role in the Virginia Tech Hokie Club’s “Drive for 25”. The Drive for 25 initiative is a goal for the Hokie Club to reach 25,000 members. We can’t wait to see Coach Beamer when the Hokies face the Mountaineers.
