The Virginia Tech/West Virginia rivalry has been in existence since 1912. Some interesting other historical events happened that same year. The Titanic left on its maiden voyage.*SPOILER ALERT* -It never made it to New York. Fenway Park opened its doors to Sox nation up in Boston. It was the second running of a new race, the Indy 500. The Democrats nominated Woodrow Wilson, and the Bull Moose party nominated some guy named Theodore Roosevelt. It seems appropriate that the first time the Hokies and Mountaineers faced off it was an election year. It seems with the current political climate, it is appropriate the Hokies and Mountaineers renew this incredible rivalry.

You have to hand it to the Mountaineers. They lead the all-time series, 22-28-1. The good news for the Hokies is simple: The last time the two teams met in 2005, the Hokies were victorious, 34-17. That is significant, since we have had the Black Diamond Trophy for a long. Long. Time.
