The Roanoke Times is reporting that Tavante Beckett was immediately suspended because he had been arrested for possession of marijuana by the Blacksburg police.
“Beckett, 19, was arrested Monday by Blacksburg police and charged with conspiring to distribute marijuana in an amount more than a half ounce but less than 5 pounds, a Class 5 felony in Virginia with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison and a $2,500 fine. He was released on a $2,500 unsecured bond, according to court records.”

That pretty much says it all. Young Mr. Beckett is charged with a felony and is now entering into a world that is very sad to see. One hopes that this can be resolved and whatever is alleged gets adjudicated swiftly and fairly.
Gobbler Country will stay up on the events, but we are not sure that Tavante will be back this season even under the best of circumstances. It is important to remember that everyone in this nation is innocent until proven otherwise.
