I do not like Thomas Sirk. In fact, hearing his name makes me salty. Flashback to 2015. The Virginia Tech Hokies were three point favorites hosting the Duke Blue Devils. David Cutcliffe brought the Devils into Lane with a top 25 ranking, and on a three game winning streak. The game was back and forth throughout, and eventually went to overtime. One of four overtimes. Michael Brewer led the the Hokies with 270 yards passing and three touchdowns. Thomas Sirk led Duke with 270 yards passing and FOUR touchdowns. The extra touchdown toss accounted for the win. Duke finished the 2015 campaign with an 8-5 record. They went to the Pinstripe Bowl and knocked off the Indiana Hoosiers, you guessed it, in overtime.
The particular game between Duke and Virginia Tech in 2015 should be a highly noted game for one specific reason. Thomas Sirk will be behind center when the Hokies invade Greenville. Sirk is a big dude that can run. Lately, Virginia Tech can’t seem to stop a mobile QB if their collective lives depended on it. Don’t think for one second that Sirk isn’t telling the East Carolina Pirates staff all the ins and outs on how to beat a Bud Foster defense. You’ve been warned. Don’t sleep on Sirk.
