On Saturday, the North Carolina Tar Heels got their first when of the season. The ‘Heels traveled to S.B. Ballard Stadium in Norfolk for a non-con road tilt. The final score was 53-23, but the Monarchs never gave up. North Carolina built a huge halftime lead. It would be great for the Hokies to get out early against O.D.U.. The Hokies have had slow offensive starts the past two weeks. Week one against the West Virginia Mountaineers, the Hokies came out with great pace and purpose. Best case scenario, the Hokies put up a bunch of points like North Carolina, and empty the benches like the East Carolina game.
The Monarchs were actually only outscored by one point in the second half. Not too shabby, and the time of possession was nearly identical for the entire game. The Monarchs played three QB’s on Saturday, and combined for a respectable 214 through the air. They only rushed for 102 yards, so they like to air it out. This will be great for our secondary to get quality reps before Clemson comes calling. We will preview O.D.U. further as the gameday approaches.
