It’s official, the No. 13 Virginia Tech Hokies host the No. 2 Clemson Tigers on Saturday, Sept. 30 at Lane Stadium in a game that will kick off at 8 pm ET on ABC. This is huge news for the Hokies and Blacksburg.
Many schools will say there’s no better night atmosphere than their own school. However, the Hokies have a legitimate claim as the ideal locale for a night college football contest. And better yet, the stakes should be high in this game. Both teams are likely to enter Lane Stadium undefeated.
Some bigger news could follow, in the form of ESPN’s College GameDay. Former Hokie, Dwight Vick caused a stir on Monday when he tweeted it was definitely coming for the Clemson game.
Great that Gameday is coming back to VT but VT has to take care of business and ensure it's worthy of the hype that will surround this game

However, Vick later tweeted that he was not certain it was happening, but remained confident.
I know I tweeted earlier that Game Day was coming to VT. No it's not official but I am tweeting with confidence. I feel like They should

He’s probably correct. He’s heard this and it just makes sense. Last season’s ACC title game was outstanding and Clemson was clearly the better team, yet the Hokies kept hanging with the eventual national champions. It adds intrigue to this year’s matchup.
And for those who will be attending, this will, in fact, be a Maroon Effect game.
Get ready, Blacksburg. This should be epic.
