It was another slow start, but in the end the Virginia Tech Hokies picked up their second shutout win of the season on Saturday with a 38-0 blanking of Old Dominion. It was the first-ever meeting between the two in-state schools.
As with previous weeks, quarterback Josh Jackson got off to a slow start, however, it didn’t last long. Jackson completed 20 of 30 passes for 298 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. He made several big-time throws once he finally got going.
Sophomore running back Steven Peoples had himself a day, rushing for 62 yards and a score, while also catching three passes for 73 yards and two more scores. Cam Phillips continued his dominant season with 106 yards on seven receptions.
Virginia Tech moves to 4-0 on the season and will host No. 2 Clemson next week in Blacksburg. ESPN’s College GameDay is expected to be on hand and the Hokies can’t afford another slow start.
