Well, #EnterNight19 started again- after the prior decommitment of Tayvion Land, who frankly I didn’t think was going to stick just based on timing alone- this week, with a new commitment from a different Virginia athlete. Wide Receiver/Cornerback Jahad (his Hudl says Ja’Had, his profiles on multiple sites and his twitter have no apostrophe, so…) Carter has committed to the Hokies. Carter isn’t ranked as of yet (not uncommon with next-class commitments that aren’t instant star standouts) by any of the recruiting services. ESPN doesn’t even have a profile on him. Again, not uncommon since they probably do the worst job of early recruiting coverage. But the Henrico athlete received a scholarship offer in June, after a camp Virginia Tech ran at Randolph Macon put him in rare enough air that the coaches jumped on him. He currently has only one other offer- Temple- but other schools including Clemson and Ohio State have come to take a look at the junior playmaker.

Let’s take a look and see what he offers. Remember this is only his sophomore tape, so it’s going to be of somewhat limited utility.
Ja’Had (Jahad?) Carter (Henrico, VA. 6’-2”, 180lbs. Athlete)
Carter’s tape is limited, so I can’t give you a GREAT overview of what he’s capable of. However, I can tell you that he’s a fairly natural receiver, and his tackling, while not STELLAR, is quite acceptable for what he is in that video- a sophomore. I like how he can catch the ball away from his body, and he has the proper size and speed you’re looking for in a modern wide receiver OR cornerback. So he could be a very productive get for the Hokies. We will see how it goes in the future, but it is good to kick off the 2019 class again.
Go Hokies!
