According to vtnews.vt.edu , there was a ton of thought in ushering in the new logo. Keep in mind, this logo will not usurp the familiar VT seen on the sides of the current football helmets. According to Travis Williams, of the above linked web site, has this to say about the logo:
The athletic department logo will remain unchanged. Virginia Tech traditions such as the HokieBird, the colors of Chicago maroon and burnt orange, the university seal, and Hokie Stone will remain at the core of the university’s identity. Meanwhile, a revised palette of contemporary colors will add vibrancy.
The uniforms will remain unchanged for now. For that, we can all be thankful!
