The No. 18 Virginia Tech Hokies defeated the Delaware Blue Hens 27-0 in the home opener on a beautiful day in Blacksburg.

It was far from pretty as the offense struggled throughout the game. Quarterback Josh Jackson had his share of ups and downs, however, he did take care of the football. Jackson missed high on several throws but appeared more comfortable as the game progressed. Overall, he completed 16 of 29 passes for 222 yards and two scores.

Tech didn’t find a lot of room on the ground, rushing for just 80 yards on 28 attempts. Freshman Jalen Holston led the Hokies with 32 yards on eight carries.

Defensively, the Hokies were outstanding, as Terrell and Tremaine Edmunds both had big games and combined for three sacks and two turnovers.

East Carolina is next up for the Hokies and they’ll have to perform much better on the offensive side to avoid an upset.
