Mistakes were the theme of the first half for the Virginia Tech Hokies as they trail the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 28-21 at halftime. After jumping out to a 7-0 lead, the Hokies’ defense allowed Georgia Tech QB Tobias Oliver to march down the field with ease and tie the game up.

Ryan Willis then connected with Damon Hazelton on a 41-yard touchdown pass to put the Hokies back up 14-7. Again, Oliver led the Jackets right down the field to tie it up. The Hokies scored again and finally forced a punt, however, VT receiver Sean Savoy allowed the punt to hit his face mask and Georgia Tech got the ball inside the 10-yard line and scored two plays later to tie it.

Once the Hokies got the ball back they went three and out and couldn’t stop Georgia Tech again.

Savoy’s fumble and a drop from Tre Turner on a critical third down are just two of the mistakes Virginia Tech has made. The defense has allowed 234 rushing yards in the first half and committed three personal fouls.

Can the Hokies turn this around? They’ll need the defense to get some stops or this one could get ugly.
