Gobbler Country’s Hokie Sports Evening News Round Up #13-1

Virginia Tech and the VTCC honor Ensign Sarah Mitchell, the men’s and women’s soccer programs are in their NCAA tournaments, Greg Stroman does good things for the ‘Skins, and more Hokie pets!

Men’s Soccer

The Virginia Tech Hokies earned the No. 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament. This is the third consecutive year of VT making an appearance in the tournament. The Hokies have a bye during the first week, but will host the winner of the Charlotte vs Georgia State. Virginia Tech finished the regular season 10-6-3. Congratulations gentlemen!

Women’s Soccer

The Hokies opened up their NCAA Tournament effort with a 1-0 win over the No. 27 Texas Longhorns! Round two kicks off this Friday against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Women’s Basketball

The women of Virginia Tech continued their season with two solid wins against Georgia Southern (78-49) and Liberty University (72-61). The Hokies are now 3-0 on the season and will host Monmouth this Friday!

Virginia Tech has been recognized as having the best campus food in the United States!

Virginia Tech and the Corps of Cadets honored Ensign Sarah Mitchell this past weekend. Ensign Mitchell was killed during a training exercise in the Red Sea earlier this year. Her name was added to the Ut Prosim pillar at War Memorial Chapel.
