The Associated Press has gone with the finally confirmed rumor that Tech has signed a provisional agreement with Marshall University for a December 1 makeup game. Marshall lost a game from their schedule just like we did. Both teams are looking at trying to end their seasons on a high note.
Personal note: I am of two minds on this one. If we beat the Hoos, getting a shot at another win for a bowl shot (booger or not) is a really good thing. The other part of me wants this pain over and the off season to start so that we can continue the process of getting better, healing up, and refocusing the program on improvement.
Right now the “Schedule the game regardless” sentiment is crossing my Hokie soul. Let’s play out a full season and then go into the break before Spring practice with a feeling like we can get this done if we just stick to it.
What do you think?

Do we schedule Marshall without the IF?

Yes! Play a full 12 game schedule, get players time on the field that is obviously needed, leave everything on the field with pride and our heads held up.

No! Wasteful nonsense. This team doesn’t have it, and one more game risks more injuries for absolutely nothing.

Yes but only with the IF. If by some miracle we beat the Hoos the chance to win for a bowl is worth it, but not if we lose the Cup.

No, we are going to lose anyway and as we stand now Marshall might well add insult to injury. Let’s just get this over with.
And in other more distressing news Linebacker Rico Kearney is leaving the team. The reason seems to be plain in his announcement, and the effect will be profound he and Dax Hollifield had developed a pretty good rhythm together. We can only wish him well, but wish that he had been more patient, there was plenty of time to be great.
