A View from the Sideline: Hokies vs. Wahoos Pt. 2

So, we saw pregame and the first half. Here is what I could get out of the 2nd. The camera was freezing, and refusing to focus. I had to wrap hand warmers around it to keep it functioning. It was COLD and the wind made it worse. No one felt it until it finally dawned on everyone that it was... after the celebration.

Warming up after halftime. It was really cold

The second half started like too many other periods this season. It looked like the offense was stalling and the defense was starting to have problems tackling. Bryce Perkins functionally kept the ball and we were only marginally effective at stopping him. Some break aways and deep shots, and a critical interception, and the Hokies needed a miracle to win.

Then the camera stops. Full panic.. battery was still half charged but nothing worked... I packed the hand warmers around the body, put it in my coat, and it started functioning again for the overtime period.

Farley keeps the play in front of him. At this point Hokies have a 3pt lead in 1OT and the Hoos need to score a TD to win. A field goal will force 2OT, but a turnover ends it, too.
Miracles do happen. Suddenly I see the ball on the ground.

Then the guy in front of me goes nuts. I see Belmar with a bead drawn on the ball.
John Schneider - SB Nation
And Belmar fell on it to end the game. 34 - 31 Hokies!

Ryan hasn’t won since Carolina. He’s sort of stunned.

Jerrod Hewitt realizes that he’s really hurting and it’s absolutely freaking cold.

Promised Coach Wiles that this would make it to the site. Coach W called the defensive signals from the sideline again.

A pile of very happy young men with a savaged season on the way.
John Schneider - SB Nation
Because. The Hokies Won. How and by how much is irrelevant.

And with that. I called Joshua on the cell phone and told him that I couldn’t feel my pants on my legs, my fingers were numb, and my camera had finally pooped out. Time to go.

Marshall is up next for a shot at a bowl.

GO HOKIES!!!!
