Boy does it feel like a while ago that I did this interview.
That was a year and a half ago. He spoke then of playing somewhere close to home, someplace that his family could come and see him every weekend. His favorite player was Andrew Motuapuaka. He’s visited more times than we can count, and Bud Foster has been in his ear for a long time. And now, finally, after all the suspense, Dax Hollifield has finally committed to Virginia Tech. Everyone can step off the edge and exhale. Good. Dax is rated as an across-the-board four star- 267th recruit in the US and the 9th recruit in North Carolina by ESPN, 67th in the US and 6th in North Carolina by 247, and 180th in the country and 9th in NC by Rivals. The other main three schools in his recruitment have been hometown UNC, West Coast academic powerhouse Stanford, and Clemson, who tried to snipe him late in the process. Other offers include Florida State, South Carolina, Alabama, Auburn, Duke, Kentucky, LSU, Louisville, Michigan State, NC State, Penn State, Notre Dame, Tennessee, and others.
Okay, tape time.

Okay, let’s make this short and sweet. Dax Hollifield eats people. He ends them. Not a ton of people can say that over four years of high school they have over 600 tackles, 139 tackles for loss, and 38.5 sacks as a middle linebacker. He’s a king of diagnosing plays and getting tackling targets down to the ground. He’s a perfect middle linebacker and what better way to replace Andrew Motuapuaka than with a human weed whacker like Dax. I’d drop all the high school film in (he doesn’t have a complete senior year highlight video), but it’s a lot of Dax just killing people. He attacks downhill, he does a great job of doping plays out, and he can both shed blocks and operate in space. He is just line-item-made to be a perfect mike linebacker in Bud Foster’s scheme.
Bam. Let’s go Hokies.
