This past Wednesday Kenny Brooks and the women of the Virginia Tech Hokies defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers, 64-61, catapulting them into the WNIT Championship! Junior guard, Taylor Emory, led the team with 23 points while Regan Magarity notched her 16th double-double (11 / 11) of the season. The Hokies held WVU to an abysmal 21.1% (4-19) three-point goal percentage while posting a 42.9% (9-21) for their own three-point efforts.
VT began their journey to the WNIT finals back on 16 March 2018 when they barely escaped the Naval Academy, 56-55. They then went on to have convincing wins over George Mason (78-69), Fordham (81-50), and Alabama (74-67) before facing the Mountaineers.
This Saturday, 31 March 2018, the women of Virginia Tech basketball will travel to Bloomington, Indiana to face of against the Indiana Hoosiers. Tip off is scheduled for 3 PM Eastern and will be televised on CBS Sports Network.
The Hokies currently sit with an overall record of 23-13, non-conference of 17-3, and a conference of 6-10. This the Hokies very first appearance in the WNIT Championship!
