Blacksburg was really busy on Saturday morning (April 14th). There was the morning 3.2 mile Run for Remembrance, and official tailgate tents were scattered over Washington Street and the old Pritchard Prairie. Joshua and I had to walk in from Kent Street and Washington because Beamer was closed. Everything else on campus was a mess, too, so the familial transportation dropped us there.
The Hokie Bird showed up to visit the tents of the various official family weekend tailgate picnics.
The University Bookstore folks were setting up the vending spots for the 2018 Effect T-Shirts that just went on sale this weekend.
Hokie Village was in full swing, and the tree blossoms were an unusual setting for football.
Lane looked pretty empty from the Press Box, but people were filtering in. No one was really out practicing other than the kickers.
The kickers were out early getting some practice in the swirling wind.
Oscar Bradburn came out wearing a helmet. Not a bad idea, the sound and field of view is different when you’re wearing one.
The Regimental Band showed up at about 1430 hrs (2:30 PM for you civilians).
The players showed for warmups soon thereafter.
Some new faces were in the mix.
The offense wore white jerseys and the defense maroon.
And that’s a wrap for this one. There’ll be more pictures as we get more sorted. All of this set will be up on the Facebook page.
It was a really great time and it’s going to be a long football withdrawal period until August.
Recruiting News, Draft coverage, and other tidbits of interest will be coming. There were lots of recruits at the game, and lots of smiles on the sideline.
