YOU GUYS! It happened again! A collision between my two favorite sports entities transpired! All-ACC Third Team Defense and Polynesian Player of the Year finalist, Andrew Motuapuaka, has signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars as an Undrafted Rookie Free Agent!

Motuapuaka’s journey to the NFL is quite interesting. He was porn in Auckland, New Zealand before he and his parents emigrated to the United States. Out of Salem High School in Virginia Beach (what up Hampton Roads!), Motuapuaka was recruited as a three-star linebacker. Andrew started for three years under both Frank Beamer and Justin Fuente. During his time with Virginia Tech Motuapuaka racked up 333 tackles (32.5 for a loss) and 11.5 sacks.

Regarding the 2018 NFL Draft Andrew was projected as a late round addition or undrafted signer. Listed on the depth chart of the Jagaurs’ official page at 5’11” and 235 pounds the 22-year-old is regarded as undersized for his position. Although questions have populated regarding whether his size and athleticism will allow for him to compete at the NFL level, he is lauded for his tenacity and leadership ability. Throughout the offseason Andrew will likely be fighting to find purchase as a special teams contributor. There is a Jagswire contributor by the same name as me, Jay Johnson (no relation), who has recognized Motuapuaka as one of the Jaguars’ top five undrafted rookies with a chance to make the roster!

Congratulations on your achievements Andrew, and best of luck!

Go Jaguars, and as always… Go Hokies!!!
