Let us look around the day’s Hokie sports news, and see more than just the big name folks in the front. There are lots of unsung professionals making big impacts on the program, and the athletic department in general. Acknowledgements are long overdue.

Hokies Football

There was something different about the team last season that most folks really didn’t notice; injuries slacked off, and inside speed and control improved. See this from David Hale from the 2018 season.

You see, it takes way more than flub to control the line of scrimmage. The Hokies dominated inside and behind the line because of behind the scenes sorts of work by coaches who are rarely given notice. Someone really needs to notice the difference that Coach Hilgart and his fitness and nutrition program have done for the entire team. This includes the inside guys.

Seems the Hokies are starting to really understand how important he’s been to the program since 2016.

In case you didn’t know, Jack Tyler - a favorite overachieving Hokie is now a Graduate Assistant on the Football coaching staff, along with Cody Grimm.

Hokie (NCAA Basketball News)

The NCAA looks like it has finally completely dropped the RPI methodology of choosing tournament entries and seeding. The NCAA is instituting the NET (NCAA Evaluation Tool) Take a look at the SB Nation article describing how it all will work. We’ll all see how it works out as Selection Weekend blooms.

Buzz Williams adds another coach to the Men’s Basketball Staff
