Gobbler Country’s: Virginia Tech Hokie Evening News Roundup #5

It’s August 23rd, and things are still just a bit quiet. It’s going to get busy, next week, though. Kickoff in Tallahassee awaits. Other sports are just starting up their schedules. Baseball starts its fall exhibitions on Sept 14th.

Hokie Football

@Hokiesports posted up the latest press conference from today. Among the usual coaches we get to hear from Hezekiah Grimsley, Oscar Bradburn, and Kyle Chung. BE PATIENT the news conference doesn’t start until nearly 7 minutes into the mp3.

Hokies in the Pros

@VT_Football is reporting that Defensive Tackle Nigel Williams has signed with the Arizona Cardinals.

And Adonis Alexander is expected to be on the field for the Washington Redskins for their next preseason game.

It’s really tough to make a pro squad, and we are wishing them all the best!

Hokie Baseball

Baseball really doesn’t start up until late winter, but there is a warm up period of exhibitions, sort of like soccer “friendlies” where teams get some live practice and have the opportunity to get new and bench players into the lineup before the real games start.

The High Point Panthers will be visiting on Sept 14th. It would be a great opportunity for folks who travel down on a Friday to Hokie Football games to check out the new baseball stadium (Union Park at English Field) and cheer on the new 2018/2019 Hokie Baseball Team.

There will be some on the field action, and on the court since there will be a flurry of activity on the soccer pitch and volleyball court. We’ll check in with those things tomorrow.

In the meantime, let’s reflect on the following Tweet:

That’s RIGHT 11 more days until kickoff.

GO HOKIES!!!!
