Gobbler Country’s: Virginia Tech Hokie Evening News Roundup #2-4

Well it’s a bit late but we were waiting for some updates on the Women’s soccer match vs. Alabama down in Tuscaloosa. Football captains are named, and some additions to the baseball staff are also a topic. GO HOKIES!!!

Mini-helmet madness.
John Schneider - SB Nation

Hokie Football

The team elected captains and VT Football put out the announcement. It’s a good representative spread of Seniors and Underclassmen. Congratulations to Kyle Chung, Josh Jackson, Ricky Walker, and Reggie Floyd. They already were leaders, but when your own teammates choose you it’s even better.

Coach Cornelsen talks Josh Jackson up in the recent presser:

Coach Foster talks about how he thinks the #LPD is coming along before hitting the road.

There are some new honor banners up in Lane Stadium. A little bit more with the times and the new uniform designs.

Hokie Baseball

Two new staff members have been brought on board to help out the Baseball team. See Hokie Sports for the details. The Hokies have added Brian Neal to head up the Strenth and Conditioning Program, and Kyle Staggers as Director of Sports Medicine for the program. Coach Szefc is getting a chance to fill out a more complete staff. We love that Virginia Tech is renewing its love of baseball, and is serious about bringing the program back into a more competitive posture.

Women’s Soccer

It looks like Alabama nipped the Hokie Women’s soccer team by a 1 - nil score. The only listed goal was an accidental own goal on the Hokies in something like the 15th plus minute of the 1st half. ugh. So the undefeated streak ends and Hokies WSOC is now 2-1-2. Get ‘em next time Hokies!

Around Campus

One of the most special features of the Drill Field is the War Memorial Chapel and the Pylons containing all of the names of the Hokies who paid the ultimate price while defending our nation since World War I. They are the ultimate examples of UT PROSIM.

And last but not least, we have to be reminded that it does rain, occasionally, in Blacksburg, and it looks like Laze has the need to wade.

It’s almost time... Friday... Saturday... Sunday... almost all of Monday... agh! Such a long time! It’ll never get here!

GO HOKIES!!!!!
