The Virginia Tech Hokies lead William & Mary 38-7 at halftime in Blacksburg. Tech got off to a fast start before fumbling deep into William & Mary territory, fortunately defensive end Houshun Gaines sacked W&M quarterback Shon Mitchell to get the Hokies the football back.

The rest is history.

The Hokies rolled up 401 yards of total offense in the first half, as Steven Peoples has a combined 89 total yards and two touchdowns. Josh Jackson completed 10 of 13 passes for 184 and a touchdown. Jackson’s day ended late in the second quarter as Ryan Willis took over on VT’s last scoring drive of the half.

Defensive tackle Ricky Walker went down for the second week and was helped off the field with an apparent ankle injury. We’ll keep you posted on Walker.

Expect to continue seeing plenty of the younger Hokies in the second half.
