The Virginia Tech Men’s Basketball team got the season rolling with an impressive opening night win over Clemson on the road. Then followed a series of home matches against Coppin State, USC Upstate and Lehigh. Those results pushed fan confidence to 100% for the first time this season.
Prior to the latest poll the Hokies hosted Delaware State in their final game before heading to Maui. We know how that night went for Tech, but was everyone still feeling as strongly about the program? To the Fan Pulse data:
Week 4 - Flying High After Strong Home Series
Now it’s important to clarify the timeline here, because college basketball games are coming fast in these opening weeks. The SB Nation Fan Pulse survey goes out on Sundays, and we get these lovely graphics Tuesday or Wednesday. Thus, this week’s results are based on the conclusion of the four game home stand that ended with Delaware State.
You know that lovely 100 offensive night that saw the Hokies hit 21 three pointers. Setting an ACC and school record for made threes in a game. Based on that, was there ever any doubt that fan confidence wouldn’t be at 100%? Because remember the question is focused on the ‘direction of the program’, not necessarily on how the next game might turn out, or the entire season.
By the time the next survey hits Hokie inboxes, the upset over Michigan State, the onslaught from Dayton, and the BYU game will be in the books. It will be interesting to see if confidence dips at all following those two wildly different nights in Maui. It shouldn’t, Mike Young is off to a great start with a rebuilt roster. But we will wait to hear what you have to say.
